Welcome to DMV Moving Help (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By engaging our services, you (“Customer,” “you,” or “your”) agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service (“Terms”). These Terms govern your use of our moving, packing, and related services (“Services”). Please read these Terms carefully before booking or using our Services. If you do not agree with these Terms, you may not use our Services.

1. Services Provided

DMV Moving Help provides professional moving, packing, and related services within the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area. Services may include, but are not limited to:

  • Loading and unloading
  • Packing and unpacking
  • Junk removal and disposal
  • Local and long-distance moving
  • Furniture assembly and disassembly
  • Temporary storage solutions (if applicable)

Specific Services, timelines, and costs will be outlined in a separate booking confirmation or service agreement provided to you at the time of booking.

2. Booking and Payment

2.1 Booking Process: To reserve Services, you must provide accurate details, including move date, locations, inventory, and contact information. A deposit may be required to confirm your booking.
2.2 Pricing: Pricing is based on factors such as distance, volume of items, labor required, and additional services requested. A detailed estimate will be provided before booking. Final costs may vary due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., additional items, access issues).
2.3 Payment Terms: Payment is due in full upon completion of Services unless otherwise agreed. We accept Zelle, Venmo, CashApp, Cash. A late payment fee of 20% may apply for overdue balances.
2.4 Cancellations: Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled move. Cancellations within this period may result in forfeiture of the deposit or a cancellation fee of 25%.
2.5 Rescheduling: Rescheduling requests are subject to availability and must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Additional fees may apply.

3. Customer Responsibilities

3.1 Accurate Information: You must provide complete and accurate information about the items to be moved, access conditions (e.g., stairs, elevators, parking), and any special requirements.
3.2 Preparation: You are responsible for preparing items for transport (e.g., disconnecting appliances, securing fragile items) unless packing services are explicitly booked.
3.3 Access: You must ensure clear access to pickup and delivery locations, including obtaining necessary permits or permissions (e.g., parking, building management approval).
3.4 Prohibited Items: You agree not to include hazardous, illegal, or perishable items (e.g., flammable materials, weapons, food) in the move. DMV Moving Help reserves the right to refuse to transport such items.
3.5 Presence: You or an authorized representative must be present at the pickup and delivery locations to oversee the process and address any issues.

4. Liability and Insurance

4.1 Limited Liability: DMV Moving Help will exercise reasonable care in handling your belongings. However, we are not liable for damage to items that are improperly packed by you, inherently fragile, or damaged due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., weather, accidents).
4.2 Valuation Coverage: We offer basic valuation coverage at $0.60 per pound per item (up to a maximum of $50 per item) as part of our standard Services. Additional insurance options may be available for purchase from third party providers. You are responsible for arranging supplemental insurance if desired.
4.3 Claims: Any claims for loss or damage must be submitted in writing within 7 days of the move, accompanied by evidence (e.g., photos, receipts). We will review claims and respond within 7 days.
4.4 Exclusions: We are not liable for:

  • Damage to items not disclosed in the inventory.
  • Loss or damage due to acts of God, riots, or other events beyond our control.
  • Loss of sentimental or intrinsic value beyond the item’s market value.

5. Delays and Cancellations by DMV Moving Help

5.1 Delays: We strive to adhere to agreed schedules but are not liable for delays caused by traffic, weather, mechanical issues, or other uncontrollable factors.
5.2 Service Cancellation: We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule Services due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., equipment failure, staffing issues). In such cases, we will notify you promptly and offer a full refund of any deposit or reschedule at no additional cost.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Engage in abusive or threatening behavior toward our staff.
  • Misrepresent the nature or condition of items to be moved.
  • Request Services that violate applicable laws or regulations.

7. Privacy and Data

We collect personal information (e.g., name, address, payment details) to provide Services and process bookings. We will handle your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at [https://dmvmovinghelp.com/privacy]. By using our Services, you consent to such data collection and use.

8. Dispute Resolution

8.1 Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of Washington, DC.
8.2 Resolution Process: Any disputes arising from these Terms or our Services will first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes will be settled through mediation or arbitration in Prince George’s County, MD].
8.3 Limitation on Claims: Any legal action must be filed within one year from the date of the move.

9. Modifications to Terms

10. Termination of Services

We may terminate Services immediately if you breach these Terms, fail to make payment, or engage in prohibited conduct. In such cases, you remain liable for any fees incurred up to the point of termination.

11. Force Majeure

DMV Moving Help is not liable for failure to perform Services due to events beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, strikes, or government actions.

13. Entire Agreement
